Win a WSOP* Main Event Seat by Sharing Cake

We know what you're thinking. What does Cake Poker and the flick GlenGarry Glen Ross have in common? What's the association? We don't know. We'll leave those questions to large corporate marketing people. People that make air quotes with their fingers when they use words like 'proactive', 'synergistic', and 'call to action'. We don't have any of those people.

2008 WSOP: Full Tilt Poker

Yesterday we ran through what PokerStars had to offer for World Series of Poker qualifiers. I forgot to mention that you can also buy directly into events with your FPPs. You need to be PlatinumStar and the number of FPPs required increases with the tournament buy-in. Check the VIP store for the specifics.

The number two kid in the online poker scene is Full Tilt and they will be sending a horde of people to the WSOP as well. They have many of the same qualifiers as PokerStars with the big exception being the Bracelet Race Events. These are tournaments with a $2K prize good for entry into a $1500 WSOP event + spending money.

-Race to the Main Event Giveaway-

Lace up your running shoes and get ready to Race to the Main Event because Full Tilt Poker is offering you the chance to win one of 50 completely free seats at the world’s biggest poker tournament.

Full Tilt Poker's exclusive Race to the Main Event begins on Saturday, March 1st when we'll start holding daily Freeroll tournaments that will run through Sunday, June 22nd. By the time our race ends, 50 players will have won free seats at the 2008 WSOP* Main Event.

Race To Main Event

To claim your free $10,000 tournament entry, just look for one of our Main Event Race – Round 1 SNGs running around the clock. Win one of these SNGs and you’ll qualify to play in one of our Main Event Race – Round 2 Freerolls running four times each day.

Take either first or second place in one of these daily Preliminary Freerolls to advance to our Main Event Race – Finals Freerolls held each Sunday at 16:30 ET (21:30 GMT). Reach the podium in one of these tournaments by placing first, second or third and we’ll reward your performance by giving you a completely free WSOP* Main Event entry worth $10,000.

SPRINT to the Main Event

Take a Shortcut

Looking for a shortcut to the Main Event? Just make your first real money deposit on our site or refer a friend to Full Tilt Poker and we’ll give you a direct entry good for one of our four daily Main Event Race – Round 2 Freerolls.

Remember, when you open a real money account on our site, you’ll also be eligible for our 100% Deposit Bonus, up to $600, which is money you can use to play in our wide variety of Main Event qualifiers. Your friends get the same great bonus along with $25 extra Bonus Dollars when they start playing for real money at FTP, while you can receive up to $100 Bonus Dollars for each friend who signs up based on your referral.

Sprint for Your Seat

Because not everyone's a marathon runner, we're offering you the chance to bypass both the Main Event Race - Round 1 SNGs and the Main Event Race – Round 2 Freerolls, and sprint for your Main Event seat by starting your race in one of our weekly Main Event Race - Finals Freerolls.

To receive your free Main Event Race - Finals Freeroll entry, just earn 3,000 or more Full Tilt Points in a qualifying week. There’s no limit to the number of Main Event Race – Finals Freeroll entries you can earn and, if you’d rather not play in a Main Event Race – Finals Freeroll, you can redeem your tournament entries for 75 Iron Man medals each.

The Main Event will be here before you know it, so don’t waste any time getting your game into shape. Start competing for your free tournament entry today and leave the competition in the dust.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. That's why Full Tilt Poker is giving you the chance to play in the world’s most prestigious poker tournament - the WSOP’s* $50,000 HORSE event.

Because we know that not everyone can afford to pony up $50K for a single tournament entry, we’re giving you a chance to claim your seat for a fraction of the price. Register for our $1,000+$60 $50K HORSE qualifier at 15:00 ET (20:00 GMT) on Sunday June 8th and you could wind up in the Winner’s Circle with a $52K prize package, including a $50,000 tournament entry, and $2,000 in spending money. And, because everyone loves a great HORSE race, we’re making sure the second-place finisher doesn't walk away empty handed by guaranteeing two prize packages in this thrilling run for poker glory.

$50K Horse Rules

-King of the Main Event-

At Full Tilt Poker it’s good to be the king, so throw down the gauntlet and join the battle to be our next King of the Main Event.

Stake your claim to the throne by winning more WSOP* Main Event prize packages than anyone else on our site. Win your first tournament and lay claim to a $10,000 tournament entry, and $2,000 in spending money. Compete in even more qualifier tournaments and we’ll pay you $12,000 for each additional event where you reign supreme.

Conquer the competition by the time our last World Series of Poker* qualifier ends and we’ll crown you King of the Main Event. As our Royal Highness, you’ll live in high style with:

  • Round-trip, first-class airfare from anywhere in the United States to Las Vegas
  • Limousine transportation from McCarren Airport to your hotel
  • A suite for the duration of the Main Event
  • A crown on the Full Tilt Poker avatar of your choice so that everyone knows when royalty is at the table

Last year, Rac00n claimed the King’s mantle by winning six Main Event prize packages. If you can dethrone Rac00n by winning seven packages or more, we’ll give you an additional king’s ransom worth $25,000. Of course, you’ll also be in the running for $10 Million Main Event Mania where you can receive a free $10 million in addition to your first-place prize money if you win the Main Event after winning your entry on Full Tilt Poker.

With the chance to be treated like royalty, why would you play for your Main Event seat anywhere else?

Cash Qualifiers:

Players can win a seat at the Main Event by entering one of our cash satellites. There are several qualifiers running each day, with a wide range of buy-in’s, starting from just $2. See the diagram below for more details.

Entry into these qualifiers is available at any time. To register: open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Events’, ‘WSOP’ and then ‘Cash Satellites’.

FPP Qualifiers:

Players that finish in the top two spots of any step will win entry to the one above. Any player who makes it to Step 6 will get the chance to play for that all important prize package. If you don’t finish in the top two places of an individual step, you could still win another ticket to that same step. Players can also buy-in directly to any of the step levels.

With so many chances to win, Steps Sit & Go qualifiers give everyone a shot at glory. See the diagram below for details of how the Steps path works.

Canada Considers Online Gambling Regulation (Ban)

Wicked Chops Poker has a post up about how Canada is considering UIGEA-like regulations. This could have serious implications for the online gaming scene since so many companies have servers run by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

Here's the link to the National Post article.

We're heading to Vegas in April for the World Poker Tour Championship. It's still over a month away. Is that too soon to start a countdown?

It's Tournament Season!

BBT3 Event #1 was last night. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to play in many, if any, of these. They are such awesome value (thanks again to Al for making it all happen) but the late start times are killer.

Tomorrow the Bodonkey Series continues.

Stars has started their WSOP qualifiers already. Unlike last year there is no doubt. Expect the WSOP Main Event field to once again increase in numbers.

My 4GB iPod Nano arrived today from Carbon Poker. Now what to do with it? As of now I'm leaning towards selling it. I really don't need 3 iPods.

and...

The new Beach House album is very good. Of yeah, I owe Iggy some tunes...

Wired is reporting about some leaked information on the D&D 4th Edition Rules. Hop over to their site if you want the scoop.

The World Series of Poker is pretty much one big role playing session. Lots of curiously dressed men with an affinity for body odor.
