AP / UB Scandal Airs Tonight

Be sure and watch the 60 Minutes broadcast tonight.   The Washington Post main article is up along with the start to a series of articles dedicated to how the cheating was cracked.

Here is a link to the article:

Reading the main Washington Post article reminds me how pissed off I was during these incidents.  Specifically, when the AP scandal was breaking how no one in the major poker media seemed to give a damn.  Here you had some of the smartest and best high stakes players presenting huge statistically anomalies and basically shouting at a wall.

For those of you that think this 'Hack Job' should not be aired, why?  Because it will hurt the industry?  Hurt your affiliate revenues?  Hurt your advertising?  If we ever want online poker to be completely legal and regulated in the United States then these issues need to be dealt with. And it is clear that the shadow regulators over AP / UB are not sufficient.

When these scandals were breaking last year I sent emails to PokerStars and Full Tilt asking them to get involved and throw their weight around.  Tilt didn't reply.  Stars did and basically said they have no control over AP / UB.  If the 800lb gorilla in the industry has no power to help self regulate the industry then self regulation is not an option.

Heads still need to roll.

A Tough Start

We had our first basketball game last night.  We're in a higher division this year and the competition is clearly better.  It's the right spot for our team though.  Last night we fell 61-52 in a close tough fought game.  The simply shot better than us.  Oh well, next week we do it again.

There are local poker games both tonight and next week which is pretty sweet.

The Latest

Not much different to report in the Royal Household.  Halloween has come and gone and our coffers are filled with sweets.  The kids can now focus on our upcoming trip to Disney World.  Basketball season starts in a few weeks and we should once again have a solid team.

On the poker front I've mostly been dabbling in the Turbo SnGs on Full Tilt.  So far variance has been in my favor.  Lots of rumbling on the online poker legal front, but nothing has changed yet.  And the World Series final table starts in a week!
